Letter from the President

JWC Group Pic 2012It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Club’s 78th President. The small, yet dedicated and talented group of women has proven to be quite a strong presence. The success of this group lies within the special mix of talents and personalities, much like a winning recipe. Juniors, is made up of working women who are educators, business women, health care providers, therapists, entrepreneurs, administrators, realtors, and so much more. What makes us thrive as a group is our unending commitment to help improve our community through philanthropy and service.

The 2011-2012 year culminated with two successful fundraising community events: the 23rd annual SPOOKTACULAR Children’s Carnival and the 10th annual Spring Swing Golf Tournament. Proceeds allowed Juniors to provide small grants to 23 community organizations and sponsor three Be the Change Youth Service projects in the El Paso Community. In addition, the club provided two scholarships; one to a local high school HOBY student pursuing an undergraduate college degree and the second to a JWC member pursuing a post graduate degree.

As we enter our current membership year, members acknowledge the importance of looking back and honoring our legacy. In 2012-2013, we will be eagerly “Moving Forward…” in preparation for another year of successful fundraising events and service projects. Much like the delicate dragonfly, the women of the Junior Woman’s Club approaches each challenge with delicate grace as it continues its flight forward.

As an auxiliary of the Women’s Club, we are honored to represent the club and promote the principals it was founded on. We look forward to working closer with the members of the Women’s Club and sincerely appreciate your support of Juniors.

Yours in Service,
Pema B. Garcia
2012-2013 President
Junior Women’s Club of El Paso
